Update from The Council of Docked Breeds
Firstly, many thanks to the 345 of you who have voted for our "idea" on the YourFreedom web site. It has not reached anything like the number we had hoped for yet, so please continue to encourage any of your friends who are interested in repealing the ban on tail docking to vote for my "idea". W...e need at least TEN times more people voting to make the impact required.New Zealand I am sure that many of you are aware New Zealand has just released an animal welfare code on tail docking. The code allows for tail banding of puppies less than four days old by appropriate people acting under a quality assurance scheme. "The New Zealand Kennel Club already has a scheme for accrediting tail banders, but there is nothing stopping another organisation setting up their own” says Dr Hellström. After the age of four days, tail docking must be done by a veterinarian. Four days is too restrictive in our view, but the basic code is a good one and one we would recommend the new UK Government to consider this as we have long supported the introduction of a UK Register of Approved Lay Docking Practitioners, similar to that now introduced in New Zealand. CDB Shop A CDB shop has been launched where one can buy all sorts of clothing printed with various CDB slogans, in different colour's and sizes. It is on the CDB website but we do not carry any stock as all products are printed in Germany to order, then despatched direct to customers within 48 working hours. Post costs just £2.20 for one item to anywhere in Europe or £6.90 to the Americas. The CDB is not profiting from sales (well just 9p per item actually) as we simply want to get our message out there. Please post this on any forums you are members of if possible to spread the word - www.cdb.org/shopAnybody placing an order over £40 before the end of July can claim one of three free items up to £20 value. You need to select your items including the free item, then use the coupon code "ADDONFREE" in your shopping basket and the cost will be deducted.See more
